Not all people define “sex” in the same way. Not all people define abstinence (pronunciation: “abstununs”) in the same way. The most common meaning of sexual abstinence is not having sexual intercourse, vaginal or anal. It is important to discuss with your partner what abstinence means to you, especially if you are developing a new relationship. A specific definition of abstinence should include the expressions of love and sexuality that are acceptable to you and those that aren’t. Examples of acceptable behaviors often include holding hands, dancing and kissing. Some individuals include heavy petting and mutual masturbation. While most of us would consider oral sex to be sex, others would not consider its practice a breaking of the vow of abstinence. The following is a revised excerpt from Uncle Terry’s book:Sex From the Womb to the Tomb: “I grew up in a period where sex among young people was becoming a lot more prominent. It seems to me that it is even getting worse today. Our children are growing up very fast in their own minds. Some of our children think about having sex as soon as those hormones start to kick in. A boy sees his first few pubic hairs and even though his penis is still maturing and his voice is still changing, he starts to worry that he better hurry up and lose his virginity or the other boys are going to think him strange. Usually a boy in his early stages of puberty hasn’t even started to date, other than possibly group boy-girl activities. Still, sex is on those little jerk-offs’ Minds. Most of them don’t get much further than thinking about it but, in 2003, 6.6% of our children had sexual intercourse before the age of 13. While the percentage may seem small, in reality it is a big number for children in such an early stage of development. It is imperative that we teach young children ‘virginity cannot be refunded once a deposit has been made! Our children start to flirt a bit. They call each other on the phone and soon start to date. They are quickly holding hands and shortly thereafter give a quick kiss. After a while it changes to an embrace and a longer kiss. Over time, as courage increases and the hormones continue to kick in, they work up to French kissing. Some might say that this is a prelude to intercourse as our sons and daughters experiment with entering their stiff, moist tongues deep into each other’s mouth. As time goes on the boy starts working his hand down to the girl’s breasts and vaginal area and she starts to work her hand down to the penis. This exploration may be over or under the clothing. They start going to dances where they make motions as if they were having sex. They have now gone from holding hands and a peck on the cheek to heavy petting and simulated sex. With some of our children it stops there and with others it does not. Some of our children have committed to not having sexual intercourse. Others will work up from the heavy petting to mutual masturbation and some will start to include oral sex as a normal part of making out. As they continue to mature through their junior high and high school years, some will have intercourse, some will wait a little bit longer, and some will choose to lose their virginity on the eve of marriage. My own wife told me that she was proud that we had held on to our virginity until our wedding night. She had gone on to say, ’She enjoyed it while she had it but once lost she did not want to find it again. Girls mature a little quicker, both mentally and physically, than most boys. And while they are ahead of the boys in so many ways, they do not have the same sexual urges. Unlike most boys, most girls are not masturbating several times a week or a day. Most girls feel that they want to wait a little longer for intercourse. The girls, though, are anxious to date and they often start dating a boy that’s a little older than them. These boys, with their raging hormones, start encouraging the girls to have sex, and way too often the girl gives in.” Blue Balls: Some guys will try to convince the girl that she is giving them blue balls and the only way it can be relieved is by them having sex. Blue balls is a discomfort in the male pelvic area caused by sexual arousal going unrelieved by lack of ejaculation. Obviously intercourse is not the only way for a guy to ejaculate but unfortunately some gullible girls are unethically pressured into intercourse by this claim. And yes, even if the guy doesn’t ejaculate the congestion will go away on its own in a few hours. Also See: |
